Congratulations!
​Congratulations to the School of Public Health for receiving $7M 
from Blue Shield of California
 for a new fellowship program to support graduate students from underrepresented communities​!​ The program aims to increase diversity among health professionals and will leverage data and analytics to advance health equity.
Featured Opportunity
The Howard Hughes Medical Institute's new program will support outstanding early career faculty who are committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in science. Eligible research areas include all basic biomedical science disciplines, as well as plant biology, evolutionary biology, biophysics, chemical biology, biomedical engineering, and computational biology.
  • Award Amount: Up to $8.6M per scholar (30 scholars total)
  • Deadline: Applications due September 28, 2022

Funding Opportunities
The program focuses on understanding the physical principles and mechanisms that make living systems distinctive from inanimate matter. The program will support basic scientific research at the intersection of these four disciplines: Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Engineering.

The Society of Family Planning Research Fund is seeking to build and support an inclusive, multidisciplinary, skilled, and well-connected community with a shared focus on family planning. Priority will awarded to scholars of color, with the goal of responding to institutionalized racism in the science of family planning.
  • Award Amount: Up to $60K
  • Deadline: Applications due June 6, 2022
The program aims to create a more equitable and humane justice system. Current funding priorities include multi-pronged approaches to eliminate the use of solitary confinement, including supporting a national campaign that provides resources to state and local coalitions.
  • Award Amount: No Amount Limitations
  • Deadline: Preliminary registration due June 7, 2022
The program was created to catalyze novel solutions to improve equity in clinical research, health care delivery, and the science and health care workforce. Areas of priority include: Health Equity and Workforce Diversity.
  • Award Amount: $150K - $750K
  • Deadline: Applications due June 10, 2022 
  • Interested applicants are strongly encouraged to collaborate with Aaron Diaz and David Siegfried
The program raises awareness of immigrant contributions in the United States and fosters appreciation of the arts and sciences. Areas of priority include: Creative Promise in Biomedical Science and Creative Promise in Music.
  • Eligibility: Early Career Faculty
  • Award Amount: $50K (up to 6 recipients)
  • Deadline: Applications due June 10, 2022
The  foundation provides ‘bridge’ funding to promising early career sleep and circadian scientists who have applied for a career development grant an equivalent career development award from another federal or non-federal funding agency, but whose application was not within the funding range. 
  • Eligibility: Early Career Faculty
  • Award Amount: Up to $100K
  • Deadline: Applications due June 13, 2022
The Holberg Prize annually honors a scholar who has made outstanding contributions to research in the humanities, social sciences, law or theology. The Prize may be awarded both for work within a particular academic discipline and for work of a cross-disciplinary nature. The recipient must have had a decisive influence on international research.
  • Award Amount: Up to $650K
  • Deadline: Applications due June 15, 2022
The program supports young scholars on American foreign policy, international relations, international security, military policy, and diplomatic and military history. Within the academic community, this program supports junior or adjunct faculty, research associates, and post-docs who are engaged in policy-relevant research and writing.
  • Eligibility: Early Career Faculty
  • Award Amount: $60K (at least 3 recipients)
  • Deadline: Applications due June 17, 2022
The foundation seeks proposals on the priority focus area of Economic Mobility. The June round will focus on needs of community; including affordable housing, small business, neighborhood revitalization.
  • Award Amount: $50K 
  • Deadline: Applications due June 24, 2022
The foundation supports young investigators who are working to significantly advance human immunology, vaccine discovery, and immunotherapy research for major global diseases. 
  • Eligibility: Early Career Faculty
  • Award Amount: $150K 
  • Deadline: Applications due June 26, 2022
The program aims to create the scalable capacity to measure, model and predict gestational development, with sufficient accuracy to reduce stillbirth rates by half, without increasing provider-initiated delivery. 
  • Award Amount: Varies (Total $50M) 
  • Deadline: Applications due June 30, 2022
Pfizer's competitive grants program aims to support applications that will advance the medical knowledge of short stature. Research Projects may include: Diagnostics, early treatment, new treatment paradigms; Clinical outcomes, quality of life, and patient reported outcomes; Medication adherence research including innovative methods to evaluate levels of adherence of growth hormone treatment; and Translational or clinical research.
  • Award Amount: $100K 
  • Deadline: Applications due June 30, 2022
The Fund was established to provide targeted grants to individual species conservation initiatives, recognize leaders in the field, and elevate the importance of species in the broader conservation debate. 
  • Award Amount: $25K 
  • Deadline: Applications due June 30, 2022
The program objective is to improve and accelerate equitable maternal and infant health outcomes around the world. With this award, they are focused on sourcing and scaling community-led solutions that will drive improvements in maternal and infant health for the most marginalized communities.
  • Award Amount: Up to $10M 
  • Deadline: Applications due June 30, 2022
Proposals are sought for original work that focuses on improving existing analytical methods for detecting particular drugs, developing new analytical methods to test for substances not currently detectable, and discovering cost-effective approaches for testing widely abused substances across all levels of sport. 
  • Award Amount: Average grant $200K 
  • Deadline: Applications due July 1, 2022
