Featured Funding Opportunity
The Simons Foundation aims to support recently tenured, outstanding investigators in microbial ecology in marine or natural freshwater systems, who will advance our understanding through field studies, laboratory experiments, modeling, or theory. The program will provide support for establishing a new research direction or an innovative expansion of current work. 
  • Award Amount: Up to $1.75M (over 5 years)
  • Deadline: Applications are due December 2, 2022

Funding Opportunities

The foundation will provide support for approximately 20 creative mid-career individuals and their research teams to advance our understanding of physical phenomena. Applicants must have received tenure at their U.S. institution within the previous five years. 
  • Award Amount:Up to $1.25M (over 5 years)
  • Deadline: Pre-proposals are due November 30, 2022
  • Interested applicants are strongly encouraged to partner with Aaron Diaz
The program will award funding to programs that enhance financial literacy among women and underrepresented communities or improve access to knowledge and tools among women and underrepresented communities.
  • Award Amount: Varies (Most under $100K)
  • Deadline: Proposals are due November 30, 2022
The foundation helps women overcome persistent gender stereotypes and bias in these fields by providing them with funding for research projects that will culminate in scholarly publications. 
  • Award Amount: Up to $35K
  • Deadline: Proposals are due December 1, 2022
The initiative is designed to stimulate both creative individual scientists and multi-investigator teams to approach healthy and adverse pregnancy outcomes using creative basic and translation science methods. 
  • Award Amount: Up to $500K (over 4 years)
  • Deadline: Applications due December 1, 2022
  • Interested applicants are encouraged to work with Sylvia Bierhuis
The Foundation is currently accepting proposals focused on evaluating programs that have the potential of helping to close the opportunity and resulting achievement gaps associated with race and family income.
  • Award Amount: Up to $400K (over 3 years)
  • Deadline: Proposals due December 1, 2022
  • Interested applicants are encouraged to work with David Siegfried
The Chemical Sciences Prize is awarded to an individual in a selected area of chemistry to recognize exceptional and original research that has advanced the field in a major way. 
  • Award Amount: $250K 
  • Deadline: Nominations are due December 1, 2022
EREF invites applications for projects and research related to sustainable solid waste management practices. 
  • Award Amount: Average grant amount is $160K (over 2 years) 
  • Deadline: Proposals are due December 1, 2022
The California-based coalition will work together to address the pressing issue of senior oral health access from a system- change perspective. 
  • Award Amount: $1M (over 5 years) 
  • Deadline: Applications are due December 2, 2022

The goal for this program is to support rigorous, intellectually ambitious and technically sound research that is relevant to the most pressing questions and compelling opportunities in education.
  • Award Amount: $50K

The foundation is interested in proposals that address the biological mechanisms of neurological and psychiatric disorders. The foundation is particularly interested in proposals incorporating new approaches and those providing potential paths for therapeutic interventions.
  • Award Amount: Up to $300K (over 3 years)
  • Deadline: Applications are due December 12, 2022
The Fund gives grants that promote the elimination of nuclear weapons, prevent the emergence of new nuclear states, and build regional peace and security.
  • Award Amount: Up to $250K
  • Deadline: Applications are due December 14, 2022
The program will award approximately 75 predoctoral fellowships to individuals who have demonstrated superior academic achievement, are committed to a career in teaching and research at the college or university level in the U.S.
  • Award Amount: $27K per year (over 3 years)
  • Deadline: Applications are due December 15, 2022
The program supports innovative research on mechanisms that initiate and propagate pain in the nervous system. Research projects should be directed toward the molecular biology of pain and/or basic science topics related to the development of new analgesics for the management of pain due to terminal illness.
  • Award Amount: $150K (over 3 years)
  • Deadline: Applications are due December 15, 2022
Neukom Fellows are interdisciplinary positions for recent PhDs whose research interests or practice cuts across traditional disciplinary boundaries, and has some computational component, whether it be a framing concept for intellectual exploration or an explicit part of the work that is pursued.
  • Award Amount: $65K
  • Deadline: Applications are due December 17, 2022
